Wisdom from Revelation

The Lamb Who Is Also the Shepherd

Revelation gives us one of Scripture's most tender paradoxes: the slain Lamb at the center of the throne is the one who leads us to springs of living water. What does it mean to be led by the wounded one?

The Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd. He will lead them to springs of living water.

"He leads me beside still waters." — Psalm 23:2

David J. Van Wormer, retired pastor and chaplain

About the Author

David J. Van Wormer. A pastor, a chaplain, a neighbor.

I am a retired pastor living on the river's edge in Eugene, Oregon. For ten years I served as a chaplain in hospital, psychiatric, and hospice settings, where I learned that the gospel is rarely louder than a whisper and almost always closer than a song.

This site is a place to gather what I have been given: teaching from Scripture, daily reflections, devotionals, and the stories that shaped me. It is meant for Christians and for seekers, for the hurried and the weary, for anyone willing to slow down long enough to listen.

Thank you for being here. May what you read encourage you for the road.
